X Marks the Stage
- Gillian Anderson confirms London Night

GILLIAN ANDERSON of X-Files acclaim makes her West End debut this Autumn. The American actress appears in Michael Weller's What The Night Is For this November, following in the footsteps of Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicole Kidman as she moves from screen to stage.

Anderson plays the part of Melinda, a married woman belatedly reunited with her now married ex-lover. Infidelity and passion are rife in this tale of a one night stand with anyone but a stranger, as American playwright Weller's work explores the convention of marriage.

The role of unfaithful woman marks a departure for Anderson from her sombre image as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in TV's the X Files. The cult sci-fi hit finished filming its ninth and final series earlier this year and Anderson looks set to build on her earlier American stage credits in Christopher Hampton's The Philanthropist and Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues.

"We are thrilled that Gillian has chosen to appear in What the Night Is For - she is an actor of real emotional honesty, which should make this a really electrifying evening in the theatre," says producer Brigid Larmour.
