Queen is Star of the Parliamentary Show
- Her Majesty gives speech to MPs following PM dinner bash

THE QUEEN continues her love-in with the nations top politicians today by making only her fifth self-penned speech to assembled MPs.

Though Her Majesty gives the annual Queen's Speech to parliament, the words she uses are written for her by government ministers. Today's effort is likely to concentrate on the events planned to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee and will probably contain words of thanks for the support received following the deaths of the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret earlier this year.

Last night, Her Majesty was guest of honour for a big do at 10 Downing Street, where current Prime Minister Tony Blair was joined by previous incumbents John Major, Margaret Thatcher, James Callaghan and Edward Heath, plus close relatives representing the other PMs of the Queen's reign.
