Queen Musical Camps at the Dominion
- We Will Rock You scheduled for next year

A NEW MUSICAL featuring the hits of rock band Queen opens at the West End's Dominion theatre early next year, with rehearsals beginning in February. Writer and comedian Ben Elton has been working on We Will Rock You with Queen guitarist Brian May for four years.

"Ben has written a fantastic script, which we've been workshopping privately," says May, who anticipates collaboration with several West End impresarios. Not only has Elton scripted The Beautiful Game, named best musical by the Critics' Circle, but director Christopher Renshaw recently dramatised The King And I.

We Will Rock You is a futuristic tale of an evil drag queen who pretends to hate rock music and banishes those who play it while secretly plotting domination of the world of rock.

Like the smash hit Mamma Mia! (which weaves a story of mothers and daughters around the music of Abba) We Will Rock You features music from the band made famous by the theatrical performances of the late singer Freddie Mercury, without dramatising the band's history. "There'll be a lot of Queen songs with some new ideas in there," says May.
