- Jones bags the butler role for big screen adaptation of Lloyd Webber musical
VINNIE JONES will swap his hardman act for that of a humble butler in his next film - a screen adaptation of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical By Jeeves.
Jones is to play Jeeves the butler in the film, which is also expected to star Hugh Grant as Wooster. The star, who recently appeared in action film Swordfish - removed from cinemas following the US atrocities - is hoping his new comedy role will help shed some of his hard persona.
"I've been practising saying 'one lump or two' in a posh voice," he joked. "It's a great role and I know I can do it."
The striker turned screen star stumped up cash for a Broadway version of the show that originally flopped in the 1970s. "Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber was eternally grateful when Vinnie helped out with his show and said wouldn't it be great if he could play the part of Jeeves and Vinnie said yes," a spokesperson for Lloyd Webber said.
"If the film doesn't work out, it would be great to get a new West End version with Vinnie."
