Harry Director is Potty About London
- Hollywood director announces he is to spend Christmas in the capital

HARRY POTTER director Chris Columbus is crazy about British culture and plans to spend Christmas with his family in London.

The American director, whose children are currently attending an English school while he finishes work on the second Harry Potter film, goes to the theatre in London and drives a British car.

"I bought a Mini Cooper when I got here. I'm a big fan of the movie The Italian job so I've been driving it round the city," Columbus said, adding that if he was allowed to make all seven films he could see himself living in London for several years.

Columbus first came to the capital during the making of Young Sherlock Homes (1985), which he wrote. Best known for Hollywood favourites Home Alone and Mrs Doubtfire, the director also professes to be a big fan of British cinema. "I always like the David Lean films and Ealing comedies as well as British humour," he said.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is released this Friday, November 16.
