East-Ender Eyes Up Phantom
- Soap star Martine McCutcheon set for second musical

MARTINE McCUTCHEON could be in line for her second leading musical role - as Christine in The Phantom Of The Opera.

Should the former Eastenders actress - currently starring in My Fair Lady - land the part it would almost certainly catapult her into the big-league.

But it won't be plain sailing. Rumour has it McCutcheon faces heavyweight competition from the cream of the A-list including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Kidman.

However, the 24-year-old star does have the backing of a certain Lord Lloyd Webber. The West End Theatre mogul and Phantom creator, who witnessed McCutcheon's opening performance in My Fair Lady, had nothing but high praise for the actress. "She's a genuine star and there aren't a lot of them about," he said.
