Stratford Circus Gets Ready for Launch
- 1000 shows lined up for new complex

A NEW ARTS CENTRE opens in June following a successful application for the largest Lottery grant ever awarded to outer London. Like the Barbican and the South Bank, Stratford Circus promises to deliver over a thousand performances a year, many of them debuts, along with workshops and community events.

"We aim to stage the best performing arts at a price that people can afford," says director Jon Harris. Award-winning architects have emphasised the modern appeal of Stratford Circus, which features a chrome lift and giant video wall reflecting the inside of the building, along with two interactive pieces of art.

The new venue continues the Stratford facelift initiated by the arrival of Stratford Picture House and a redeveloped University of East London campus. The opening of Stratford Circus also coincides with that of its newly refurbished neighbour, Theatre Royal Stratford East.
