|Bridget Jones Star Seeks Work in London
- Zellweger stuns publishing staff by going undercover for her new role
BRIDGET JONES star Renee Zellweger spent several weeks working in London in preparation for her role as the thirty-something single woman who worries about her weight and yearns for the perfect bloke.
Unbeknown to staff, Zellweger spent a two week stint at publishing company Macmillan, going by the name Bridget Cavendish. Workers were under instructions to be nice to her as she was the director's goddaughter.
New employee Alexandra Heminsley was completely in the dark as to the real occupation of her fellow colleague and even went so far as to offer career advice to the Golden Globe winning actress. "Although she didn't look out of place, everything about her looked a tiny bit more polished - and expensive - that the rest of us," she said, before adding: "I did wonder why she'd stuck a small picture of Jim Carrey on to the side of her computer, but didn't really dwell on it."
The film, based on the book by Helen Fielding, is directed by Sharon Maguire and also stars Colin Firth, Hugh Grant and Sally Philips. The casting of Texan beauty Zellweger in the lead role originally caused a furore, as the literary creation is an overweight British gal.
Bridget Jones's Diary opens in London on April 13.
