| Return of the Blues Brothers - Cult musical back in the West End THE BLUES BROTHERS returns to the West End from 24 April. Following a regional tour the show will replace Godber's Bouncers in the Whitehall Theatre where the cult musical first played in 1991 before entertaining over five million people. The brainchild of Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi, the Olivier award winning musical inspired the film which wooed the talents of James Brown, Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin among other blues greats. The tale of ex-convict Jake Blues and his brother Elwoods' revival of their blues band in the effort to raise money for the church where they were raised by nuns also spawned a sequel, Blues Brothers 2000. For the show's final run, stars Simon Foster and Brad Henshaw are joined by special guest star Antonio Fargas, otherwise known as Huggy Bear from 1970s TV show Starsky and Hutch. Fargas' TV co-star David Soul can soon be seen in TV hospital drama Holby City. |
