Go West Young Dome
- Science Museum mulls over shift to Swindon

THE DOME has had many futures in its short life including theme park, science park, and business park but now it could be the subject of one of the biggest park and ride schemes in history.

Bosses of the Science Museum are considering shifting the whole thing 100 miles to the west to an old airfield at Wroughton, near Swindon. There, it would house the museum's collection of aircraft and big machines.

"We are looking at a range of sites, including Wroughton," said a Science Museum spokesperson.

The latest wheeze for the Dome has two big factors in its favour, at least from a property speculation point of view. First, it would leave the current Greenwich site empty to be filled with loads of expensive riverside homes and thus fetch a nice price; second, it would allow the Dome itself to remain intact, a stated aim of the government.
