|Spiller Takes All at UK Dance Awards
- Three gongs for band fronted by daughter of former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis
CHART-TOPPING band Spiller scored a hat-trick last night by scooping three gongs at one of the world's biggest dance music awards.
Spiller, who trounced Posh Spice in the charts, had their hit single Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) named Record of the Year at the DanceStar 2001 Awards held at Alexandra Palace, North London.
The group, who feature Sophie Ellis-Bextor - daughter of former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis - also picked up Best House Act and Best Chart Act, but were pipped at the post for the Dance Star of the Year award, which was won by Sonique.
Other nominees included DJ Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim, who was up for five awards but walked away with only one - for Best Break Beat/Eclectic Act. Gorillaz, Damon Albarn's new project, nabbed the award for Best Marketing Campaign, and even beat the Queen Of Pop, Madonna, to scoop Best Video award with the song Clint Eastwood.
