Cash Boost for the Unicorn
- Permanent home next step for kids theatre

CHILDREN'S theatre in London was handed a lottery-powered boost yesterday in the form of a UKP4.5 million grant to the Unicorn for it to build a new permanent home in central London.

In recent years the Unicorn has led a peripatetic existence, producing highly-acclaimed drama in venues in Islington and Regents Park. Previously it shared the Great Newport Street home of the Arts Theatre.

Lottery funds were not forthcoming, however, for the Young Vic, which was awarded less than five per cent of the cash it hoped to receive for refurbishment. "I am surprised and disappointed," Young Vic director David Lan said of the UKP250,000 grant. "We really have a crisis. The building is falling down. We had been led to believe we would get more."
