Revival for Sunset Boulevard
- ... and there's more demand for Lloyd Webber from China

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER's Sunset Boulevard, based on the 1950 Billy Wilder film of the same name, is to be revived from August 10, beginning a UK tour that coincides with four concerts of his greatest hits scheduled for China at the end of September.

Director Robert 'The Beautiful Game' Carsen and choreographer Peter 'Billy Elliot' Darling are busy reviving Trevor Nunn's Tony award-winning staging of Sunset Boulevard, first performed at the Adelphi Theatre in 1993. Their production begins at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth before making its way back to the West End. Lloyd Webber's tale of an old has-been struggling to reclaim fame looks a far cry from the man himself.

Mean time Cameron Mackintosh's Really Useful Group hopes to woo the Eastern market for musicals by collaborating with the Chinese Performing Arts Association to stage Lloyd Webber's Greatest Hits in Tiananmen Square's Great Hall of the People. The performance of Lloyd Webber's favourite leading lady, Elaine Paige, is an added bonus.
