Zeta Jones Rumoured for Cast of Chicago
- Traffic star in talks to appear in screen version of musical

CATHERINE ZETA-JONES is the latest star to be linked up with the long-rumoured screen adaptation of the award-winning musical Chicago.

The 31-year-old actress, who began her career in musicals, is currently in talks with director Rob Marshall. The production would see Zeta-Jones take on the role of Velma, the homicidal performer who, along with fellow murderer Roxie, becomes a hot-shot celeb in 1920s Chicago.

So far, A-list stars touted for a part include Madonna and Goldie Hawn. Hugh Jackman, star of X-Men and the upcoming thriller Swordfish, is slated to play lawyer Billy Flynn and Kathy Bates has been pencilled in as prison matron Mama Morton.

Whether or not Denise Van Outen will be available is open to question - especially as the former TV presenter, currently a success in the stage version of Chicago, has just extended her contract to play Roxie Hart in the West End musical until September.
