Dome Leaks More Cash
- 'We're sick of paying for it,' says Tory MP

THE FUTURE of the Dome has been thrown into fresh doubt with the news that has cost UKP7.4 million in upkeep since closing its doors to the public in January.

So far, a variety of schemes for its renewal have all come to nothing. These include plans for the Dome to be turned into a giant hi-tec business park, a theme park, a sports arena and an eco-style greenhouse.

Now opposition politicians have suggested the government should simply sell off the site to developers, who would probably tear the thing down and install housing. "The public are sick to death of paying for this project," said Tory Dome spokesperson Peter Ainsworth.

The government's man in charge of the Dome, junior Culture Minister Kim Howells countered that the maintenance bill is being met by lottery money.
