- Thousands turn out for Tomb Raider premiere
IT MAY have been given a kicking by the critics, but fans turned out in force at Leicester Square yesterday for the London premiere of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
Four thousand people turned up to catch a glimpse of the film's lead star Angelina Jolie and her co-star father Jon Voight. Jolie's actor husband Billy Bob Thornton and her brother James also joined the pair for the screening at London's Empire Cinema.
The actress brushed off poor reviews for the video-game based film, saying, "People think I'm in denial - but I don't care. I love my work." Proud dad Voight praised his daughter's performance in the action movie. "It gave her a chance to show off all the athletics she was good at a school," he said.
Former All Saints singer Natalie Appleton and her daughter Rachel, who plays the young Lara in the film, were also in attendance. Other celebrity guests included funnyman Paul Whitehouse, Spice Girls Mel C and Martin Kemp.
