Madonna Finds London 'Charming'
- Pop star likes the Queen and old suits

MADONNA clearly hasn't been watching husband Guy Ritchie's London gangster films.

The veteran pop star has lived in London for years but still appears to buy into a stuffy, out-dated image of the city more in keeping with forty years ago. "You drive around and see all the old taxis, you go to Saville Row with the old shops and the hand-made suits - it's charming," said Madonna.

The Queen of Pop is also smitten with Britain's own royalty. "Having a Queen is fantastic and the Brits should realise that," Madonna said.

Someone should tell Madonna to escape the confines of Mayfair and Chelsea and pay a visit to the rest of London. That someone could very well be Ritchie whose films are almost exclusively set in the East End, a place surrounded by its own tough-guy cliches, but also one where Mads can escape the confines of her apparently limited imagination.

There is a possibility that Madonna could broaden her London education, at least if Pierre-Yves Gerbeau wins his battle to keep the Millennium Dome open as a tourist attraction. Gerbeau says he has plans to stage a Madonna concert at the Dome if he beats off the challenge of Legacy, the company that wants to turn the Dome into a business park. Also on Gerbeau's wish list are the remaining Beatles, Michael Jackson, Elton John and World Heavyweight Boxing champion Lennox Lewis.
