Hopkins Spits Out Cannibal
- Young replacement sought for third Lecter movie

SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS has turned down the chance to play Hannibal Lecter for a third time.

Earlier this week LondonNet revealed that the veteran actor had been considering a 20 million dollar offer to play Lecter. But now it seems that Hopkins has decidedly had his fill of the cannibal role.

The film, entitled Red Dragon, is based on the book of the same name written by Lecter author Thomas Harris. It is to be a prequel to both the Silence Of The Lambs and the current film, Hannibal.

Now producer Dino De Laurentis is now on the hunt for a younger actor to play the part. "Everyone wants to know what happened before Lecter was caught," he said. "There is room for more than Harris put in his first novel."

Hannibal, directed by Ridley Scott, opens in the UK on February 19.
