| London Temples Lead Gujurat Relief Effort
- Massive response to quake tragedy LONDON'S Hindu temples are at the forefront of fund raising in the UK following last week's Gujurat earthquake in which 20,000 people are feared to have died. Temples in the capital have set an initial target of UKP100,000 and temple members are planning to visit the stricken state in north western India where millions have been left homeless. Mainstream charities have also announced huge campaigns to help relieve the situation in Gujurat. The Indian government has said it needs UKP2 billion in inter-government aid to rebuild the state's collapsed infrastructure. 200,000 people of Gujurat extraction live in London. |
