Ally McBeal Keeps it Real
- Actress Calista Flockhart takes on the West End

CALISTA FLOCKHART of Ally McBeal fame will make her West End debut in The Philadelphia Story at the Savoy Theatre later this year. The 36 year-old actress says she is looking forward to performing live in the hit that originally stared Katharine Hepburn.

Philip Barry's play is a romantic comedy about love, marriage and class. Flockhart's lead role will build on her Broadway performances as Laura in Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie and Natasha in Chekhov's The Three Sisters.

In the light of the Savoy Theatre's tradition of programming mainly Gilbert and Sullivan operas, Flockhart's stage appearance in a 1940s drama will surprise theatre buffs as well as Ally McBeal fans. Those concerned by her recent collapse whilst rehearsing on set for the screen series will support her decision to perform away from the pressures of staying TV thin.
