| Sean Bean Lands Doctor Who Role
- BBC in movie revival of TV Time Lord SEAN BEAN is to be the new Dr Who in a movie treatment of the famous time-travelling eccentric. Bean will become the tenth actor to play the witty time lord, following in the galaxy-hopping footsteps of Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. Traditionally, the good doctor has a young woman assistant at his side, a role earmarked this time for Tara Fitzgerald. Two previous Doctor Who films have been made, the last of which flopped in 1996, but the tongue-in-cheek sci-fi series is mostly associated with TV. The new film will be made by the BBC and represents the state-owned TV company's first effort at a movie blockbuster. |
