Disneyfication Planned for Dome
- 'Good rides' the key to success, says leading bidder

THE LATEST plan for the the future of the Dome reads like a Millennium Experience Mark II - plus rollercoasters.

"The problem with the Millennium Dome was that they didn't want it to be Disneylike, so they didn't have any good rides," said Peter Elford, one of the men behind Timeport UK's bid to become the owners of the Dome. "You need emotional experiences for good theme parks, and rides are the only thing that can really do that."

Like the Millennium Experience, Timeport UK's scheme would see exhibitions on space, time and the human body, but would spice things up with more rides and less walking.

The long-awaited decision on the Dome's future is likely to made by the government early next year. Other bids include a one for a theme park based on BBC TV shows and one based around the idea of a multi-event sports complex.
