Baked Potato Blamed for Ballet Blast
- Royal Opera House show hit as fire alarms respond to overcooked root vegetable

A PERFORMANCE at the Royal Opera House by the San Francisco Ballet company last night was halted after a backstage potato exploded, setting off fire alarms.

"There were wisps of smoke and it took firefighters a while to find the cause of the smoke," a spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said.

"Eventually they found a small kitchenette backstage and in a microwave were the remains of an exploded potato."

The highly rated show by one of America's leading companies was interrupted for 20 minutes while the Royal Opera House was evacuated during the fire scare
