| Sweeney Set for Chicago
- Another Brookside lesbian takes to the stage CLAIRE SWEENEY could be next in line to star in the West End hit musical Chicago. Best known for her role as a lesbian in Brookside, Sweeney takes her lead from co-soap star Anna Friel who has just completed a performance as Lulu for the Almeida theatre. Sweeney is being considered for the part of murderous seductress Roxy, recently taken over by Denise Van Outen. Sweeney's role in Celebrity Big Brother, when she came second in competition with Chris Eubank, Anthea Turner, Keith Duffy, Jack Dee and Vanessa Feltz, has increased her celebrity status and stirred up interest from Chicago producers. Sweeney is hoping to follow in Martine McCutcheon's lead as a soap star boosting West End box office. "I love everything about theatre - it's such a buzz," says Sweeney. |
