Shepard Fans Flock to the Donmar
- Mendes poaches another Sam for maverick theatre

THE BRITISH PREMIERE of A Lie of the Mind opens at The Donmar Warehouse on June 28. This is the third of Shepard's plays to be seized upon by the theatre's artistic director Sam Mendes, following the success of True West and Fool for Love.

The play focuses on domestic violence. Shepard ponders the consequences of one couples' unhappiness, setting his story in California and Montana with his characteristic feel for the lonely breadth of North America's wide open spaces.

Having penned the Pulitzer prize winning Buried Baby, won the Village Voice Award for his more avant-garde work and acted in numerous films, Shepard is no less the Renaissance man than Sam 'American Beauty''s Mendes of stage and screen acclaim. The two Sams' shared commitment to film and theatre makes them a formidable duo.
