Bright Future for Young Vic
- Artistic director David Lan looks ahead

THE YOUNG VIC has announced a new season of work aimed at nurturing young talent.

Following the Arts Council's announcement of windfall grants for new work, artistic director David Lan launches seven new productions, five of them providing opportunities for young theatre directors, along with a bursary scheme for three projects by young directors.

The forthcoming season marks a new partnership for the Young Vic and various hot houses for new work. Jude Law's recently formed Natural Nylon Theatre Company, with its commitment to new writing, the Ambassador Theatre Group, with its reputation for staging physical theatre, and the Jerwood Foundation, which specialises in dance, have each formed partnerships with the Young Vic.

Work to be staged from May includes Push, a multi-art-form event for British black artists, along with several co-productions with the Royal National Theatre studio. And Peter Brook, still innovative for all his years, brings his acclaimed Paris production of Hamlet to the venue, on The Cut, just around the corner from Waterloo Station and the South Bank.
