Prince Slams ‘Monstrous’ Dome
- ‘It’s a waste of money’, says Charles

PRINCE CHARLES shocked visitors to Buckingham Palace yesterday when he told them that the royal residence was “better than going to the Dome.”

Tourists looked on in amazement as Charles, 51, walked into the ballroom and began slagging off the ailing Greenwich attraction, describing it as a “monstrous blancmange” and a “waste of money.”

When told that an adult ticket cost almost double that to tour the Palace, the Prince rolled his eyes in disgust. A royal spokesman said: “Charles is chairman of the Trustees of the Royal Collection and wanted to see how the public view Buckingham Palace.”

Later Charles adopted a more serious tone when giving a speech in memory of murdered teenager Steven Lawrence. The Prince announced a new scholarship named after him in a bid to increase the number of ethnic minority architects.
