Lull Before New Storms
- London braced for fresh battering

LONDONERS may have seen the back of the worst storms to hit the city since 1987, but weather experts were warning today that the respite is only temporary.

New storms are predicted to arrive by tomorrow, threatening floods in many areas of the south east of England as well as further damage to trees, power lines and transport links throughout the capital.

"We are expecting up to an inch of rain across the south and that will be a problem on already saturated ground," said a spokesperson from the official Met Office.

Most rail services were getting back to normal after a dismal day yesterday, but commuters are likely to face more problems tomorrow. London's airports are now operating at near full capacity.
