Big Wheel of Fortune
- London Eye breaks visitor records

THE LONDON EYE has already beaten the visitor target set for it by tourist chiefs, with three months of the year still to go.

Organisers expected 2.2 million people to climb aboard the big wheel on London's south bank from May, when it opened, until the end of 2000. But 2.5 million had made the roundabout trip by the end of September and at least 4 million are now expected by year's end.

Industry experts say the Eye has helped bring in one million extra tourists to the capital.
