- Theatre role beckons for X-Files Anderson
X-FILES star Gillian Anderson is the latest US actress to have her eye on the London stage.
Anderson, currently promoting her latest film, Edith Wharton's The House Of Mirth, looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow American stars Kathleen Turner and Nicole Kidman. The flame-haired actress is no stranger to theatre. Recently she starred in Eve Ensler's Vagina Monologues and has previously appeared on stage in New York in Christopher Hampton's The Philanthropist and Alan Ayckbourn's Absent Friends.
Now Anderson wants to return to her London roots after deciding that her current base in LA isn't conducive to theatre. "It would be blasphemous, almost, to wander off a palm-tree laden street into a theatre. It would be too surreal, " she said.
