|Cerebral Miss Worlds head for Dome|
- Brain 'n' Beauty contest spices up beleaguered Greenwich attraction
FOR ONCE the beleaguered Millennium Dome has something bright to look forward to.
For next week Miss World 2000 takes place at the Greenwich attraction. Billed as a contest of the brainiest and most beautiful young women on the plant, this year's competition is expected to attract a 2 billion global audience.
Breaking from the mundane questioning and strutting of contestants of previous years, organisers promise to engage the young ladies in a meaningful probing of their mental assets. It seems the competitors relish this beefing up of the decision making process. "I hope they ask real questions about real issues, not just our hobbies" said Miss France, Karine Meier.
This year's Miss World is the first since the death of founder Eric Morley. Morley, who died a fortnight ago, created and ran the show for the past 50 years. The competition will be presented by US talk show host Jerry Springer.
