No Internet Blackouts Here
- We can cope with surge in power demand, say London Electricity

LONDON electricity suppliers have spoken out to allay fears that the capital faces power failures caused by massive demand from internet companies.

"London is experiencing an unprecedented boom in power demand, but we are on top of it," said a spokesperson from London Electricity.

Worries that London will succumb to black outs stem from the upcoming 'internet hotels', a dozen of which are set to be built across the capital. The hotels will contain huge file servers and, together, will require power equivalent to a city the size of Liverpool.

Similar internet hotels were blamed for power cuts in San Jose, California last month, but London Electricity are confident they can cope with the surge in demand. "We are in close contact with the data centre builders and with the National Grid," the spokesperson said.
