New Drug Scare for Prince
- William's pal in narcotic bust

PRINCE WILLIAM is once more in the news as it emerged today that a close friend has been quizzed for possession of drugs.

William's Eton pal Nicholas Knatchbull, 18, was stopped for speeding on New Year's Day. Police discovered a number of substances in the vehicle including a Class B drug, which it was claimed belonged to the youth's three fellow passengers. The most common Class B prohibited drugs are cannabis and amphetamines (speed). One of the three was later cautioned and released, the other two were released on police bail. Knatchbull was issued with a fixed penalty ticket.

Prince Charles - who is Knatchbull's godfather - is known to be concerned at his William's exposure to the young drug scene. Previously attention has been drawn to the Prince's "Champagne Charlie" circle - rich kids who combine a love of the fizzy grape with their addiction to cocaine (aka Charlie).

William, 17, was described as "under the weather" by Palace officials over the Christmas festivities and admitted to being very hung over following his New Year celebrations. He confessed to having one too many glasses of champagne, despite being under age.
