Diana Car Wreck Towed Away
- Smash given short shrift by residents

A BIZARRE monument to Princess Diana was impounded after council workers failed to spot its artistic merit.

Bemused local residents called in the authorities after art student Ella Johnson installed a smashed up Ford Sierra in a Brighton park as a tribute to the dead princess. "If this is art, then I have a gallery which is worth millions," said Andrew Lee of the firm which towed away the piece of mangled metal.

Johnson must now pay UKP30 to recover her work, which was meant as a thoughtful comment on Diana's saint like status. "It seemed to me that the real Princess Diana was killed in a car crash - and the fantasy one was born. That's what my sculpture represents," Johnson said.
