Ritchie Can't Resist Fights
- British director rumoured for true-life gypsy gangster movie

LAST WEEK British director Guy Ritchie stated his intentions to jack in gangster movies in favour of a blood-thirsty-medieval war epic. But, it seems, Ritchie just can't leave fisticuffs alone as the opportunity to direct a hard-man movie starring Brad Pitt rears its head.

Ritchie, whose new film Snatch opens in the UK in September, expressed a desire to work on a historic battle after seeing Ridley Scott's Gladiator. "The opening scene was just the gonads," he raved. "I so rarely go into a cinema and just get lost. You don't get that often."

However, the news that newly married actor Pitt - star of Snatch - is touted to play notorious knuckle boxer Bobby Frankham in the tentatively-titled The King Of The Gypsies was obviously too tempting for Ritchie. The film, which would be shot in England, is according to Frankham himself, "a bit of a gangster movie, the fights and the things we do." Should be right down Ritchie's alley.
