Wild Bill Hague: The Drinks I Have Known
- Tory leader in sad booze boast

WILLIAM HAGUE has made a desperate attempt to shed his naff image as the nation's least favourite swot by claiming a past as a heavy drinker.

Tory leader Hague says as a teenager he used to down 14 pints of beer a day when working as a drayman for his dad's lemonade and bottling business. "We used to have about 10 stops," Hague recalled of his days lugging barrels of beer and soft drinks from lorry to pub. "And we used to have a pint at every stop, go home for tea and go out in the evening to the pub," where he says he regularly drank another four pints.

Hague also revealed that on his wedding day, in the morning before the ceremony, he sank several pints of beer followed by champagne at London's Covent Garden.

Hague's drinking stories are the latest in series of attempts to lend him a little laddish charm. Previously he has sported a baseball cap while promenading at the Notting Hill Carnival and bragged of his judo bouts.

Coming Soon: William 'Wild Bill' Hague reveals how he used to stay up all night in order to smoke 200 tabs - with no filters - before biting off a chicken's head and drinking the blood for breakfast.
