|Carnival Atmosphere Awaits Notting Hill |
- It's sun all the way for the capital's biggest cultural party
OVER TWO MILLION are expected to turn out for one of London's most celebrated events - the Notting Hill carnival, this Bank holiday weekend.
Trendy W11 will be host to all manner of Caribbean costume revelry and this year's parade boasts some of the most colourful exhibits yet. Floats and dancers will make their way down Ladbroke Grove along Westbourne Grove and towards Kensal Green.
As usual, a wide selection of culinary and aural delights will be on offer. From spicy nibbles to Eastern specialities, there's plenty to test those taste buds. Musically, on Sunday there's much-lauded DJ MJ Cole and leading UK R 'n' B singer Kele Le Rock, whilst Monday welcomes hip-hop pioneers De La Soul plus an assortment of steel bands.
An annual event, the carnival is a credit to London's cultural diversity. "We want to be perceived not just as a regional event but as a national and international one," a spokesperson for the carnival said. With temperatures likely to reach the mid 20's both public and participants can look forward to heaps of sunshine.
