Ken: Money Markets are Murderers
- Financial instituions kill more than Hitler, Mayor favourite says

KEN LIVINGSTONE has hit out at the world's financial institutions in an apparent move to reassure left-wing voters that he has not deserted them for the middle ground.

"Every year the international financial system kills more people than world war two. But at least Hitler was mad you know," Livingstone said, referring to the vicious debt regime endured by many developing countries. "The IMF and the World Bank are still appalling and now the World Trade Organisation too. All over the world people die unnecessarily because of the international financial system."

The clear favourite to become London's first elected mayor on Mayor 4th, Livingstone has recently drawn criticism from allies on the left for sucking up to The City, London's financial centre. In a previous address, he pledged to "work with the City corporations and major City institutions to ensure London remains the financial centre of Europe."

Livingstone's 'Hitler' jibes were immediately seized apon by opponents. "Ken Livingstone is a Left-wing extremist. The mask always slips," Tory candidate Steve Norris said. "London can ill afford the kind of danger to which Ken Livingstone is quite prepared to subject it. Londoners want safe streets and a safe transport system and not anarchy in the UK."
