Richard SwiftNew Single: 'Beautifulheart' / 'Paisley Park'
Single release: 13 November 2006
Emerging as one of the highlights at this year's SXSW festival with a string of brilliant performances, showcasing his many gifts as a sparkling entertainer, singer and pianist/guitarist, Richard Swift is poised to become one of the discoveries of 2007.
His UK debut single will be 'Beautifulheart', plucked from Swift's barrel load of supremely crafted songs, with an exclusive b-side the classic-era Prince track 'Paisley Park'. Swift's divine sounds hark back to a more explorative time when the likes of Nilsson and Randy Newman ransacked the brain with multi-layered tales and harmonies.
'Beautifulheart' is taken from his double-album debut, The Novelist/Walking Without Effort, described by Uncut as "little short of magnificent. The onset of a major talent" upon its 2005 release on the Secretly Canadian label in the US. This double album has been recently re-issued in the UK via Swift's new label, Polydor, and is sure to whet appetites for the long-awaited follow up Dressed Up for the Letdown set for February 2007 release worldwide.
Swift heads to the UK again this November, following some superb support shows with My Morning Jacket in August. This time he will support the mighty Two Gallants, with a headline London show at the Water Rats in Kings Cross.
Unlikely to be playing such intimate surrounds for too much longer, this is a prime opportunity to see the man in action, up close and personal. To witness Swift deftly brush and hover over the piano is truly a sight to behold
