Review:
Golden Girl Bea Arthur's show started out on a US tour in 2001.
Then called And Then There's Bea, the TV stars show became
known as Just Between Friends when snapped up by Broadway. The 80
year-old American actress builds on the name she made for herself
in the 1980s TV sitcom Golden Girls.
Although
a stranger to London's theatre land, Arthur's experience performing
opposite Angela Lansbury in the original Broadway production of
the musical Mame paid dividends in the creation of her successful
solo show.
Arthur's
debut follows in the footsteps of the Old Vic hit, Elaine Stritch
at Liberty. Despite failing her Golden Girl's audition, Strich's
witty review show provides the blueprint for Arthur's debut. Both
aging actresses use song and sketch to recall the highs and lows
of their careers.
