New Year's Eve 2007
Every New Year's Eve sees millions of Londoners flood the clubs and pubs to watch the timer tick away. It's an important night: the final party and death knell of 2006 combined with the birth/first hangover of 2007. And, of course, only once a year can partygoers seek out that much-talked-about New Year's kiss, whether it's on a balcony overlooking the Thames or in a pantry in Shoreditch. As always, Londonnet has already got it figured out, so all you have to do is decide where to spend your hard-earned quid to round out the year...
Together NYE presents The Chemical Brothers at Turnmills
For the fourth year in a row, the Chemical Brothers will be ringing in the last moments of 2006 at Turnmills. The Brothers have rightly become legendary for their live sets and Turnmills is lucky enough to be one of the very few UK clubs they'll play. Not that they really need another band on the marquee, Turnmills believes in providing a full night's entertainment and so look for Mulletover to provide ample backup. This group, started in 2004, has been wowing audiences with their unconventional club track. Tickets for this popular event will be selling out fast and start at UKP45.
Renaissance presents Groove Armada at Canvas London
Roll into the New Year with London uber-DJs Groove Armada. These stars will be spinning through the midnight hour, with backup provided by Rob Da Bank, James Zabiela and Sancho Panza Soundsystem, to name a few. Canvas' three separate rooms will provide ample space to revel with your cohorts in the elegantly simple surroundings. Tickets start at UKP35.
Nude Year's Eve at the Ministry of Sound
This year MoS is throwing caution and clothing to the wind with a wild, risque party on the big night. Look for DJs including Smokin Joe, X-Press 2 and Kenny Hawes in addition to live entertainment such as acrobats, burlesque performers and pole dancers. The MoS's three stages will be running from 9 pm to 7 am; entry costs UKP35.
Hotel Glitterati presents CJ Mackintosh at Pacha
One of the most posh events this New Year's is the Hotel Glitterati. The full event, priced at UKP135, includes a luxury hotel room along with the party. The party alone is going to be massive: DJs from 9 pm to 6 am include CJ Mackintosh, Marble and Angels of Funk while upstairs the Thirsty DJs present V's Girls on Film. Full tickets include both pre- and after-parties, while for UKP45 you can reserve a ticket for entrance to the club only. Both of these prices include a UKP10 deposit due 4 weeks in advance, so if you'd like a spot on the dance floor you'd best pick one out soon.
Heat New Year's Eve at the Brixton Academy
The biggest NYE party in London is going on at the Carling Brixton Academy. Heat UK and the Gallery have come together to bring on the 5th annual HEATNYE. Judged solely on numbers, Heat is staggering: 30 DJs, including Above & Beyond, Rob Tissera and others, will be propelling 4,500 revellers through 4 arenas. Besides this, watch out for a mad pyrotechnic display during the infamous Midnight Countdown. Tickets for the event will be snapped up quickly, so get yours starting at UKP20.
Kinky Malinki presents New Year's Eve at Gibson Hall
UK party producers Kinky Malinki weren't about to let New Year's pass without commemoration, so look out for a typical bacchanal at the Gibson Hall this year. Hour after hour of Malinki's trademark house beats will flow along with free drinks, so expect a night to remember. That said, tickets are only available in advance and the price is going up steadily. Order yours before the 1st of December and pay UKP75 for the standard and 110 for the champagne VIP. After that date, prices rise to 85/120 respectively.
New Year's Eve at Fabric
Fabric, one of London's most famous and most popular clubs, isn't one to be left out of the holiday cheer. This New Year's Eve will see all three gigantic rooms in Fabric packed with clubbers listening to DJs and live bands. These acts, including but not limited to Craig Richards, Joakim, Booka Shade and Innervisions, will be running from 9 pm until 10 am. Tickets are available now for UKP35.
