Your Guide Through the Galaxy
More than 200 film artifacts provide a tour of space at the London Science Museum...

Joseph Cook, aged 9, joins a Vogon to read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The eight-foot tall Vogons from Henson's Creature Workshop will be featured in the Science Museum exhibition. Adrian Brooks / Science Museum. The London Science Museum provides costumes, creatures and other props for a quirky explanation of space's largest questions, in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Exhibition.

Open on May 28, 2005, the exhibit is divided into ten zones that take you from the home of Arthur Dent, into the Vogon Ship, the Heart of Gold, the Planet Factory Showroom, and beyond. Included in each of the zone are various trinkets from the film, including the Vogon Captain Jeltz, created by the Henson Creature Workshop, the interior of the Heart of Gold Spaceship, and even Deep Thought itself.

Not merely a pledge to the quirky writings of Douglas Adams, the exhibit does well in begging the bigger questions about the nature and science of space, itself, including the size of the universe, teleportation and artificial intelligence. The museum has also scheduled various mind-reeling events to accompany the exhibit.

Worth a good Saturday afternoon of universal searching.
