We Say: It's been a long time coming that gays can go clubbing without fear, and for most of that time, there's been Heaven. London's now got its variety of gay pubs, clubs and cafes, but Heaven reigns supreme in its own category. Gay London is fortunate to have all its options, but nothing quite matches Heaven's endurance, size or variety.

Heaven's 24-year history is testament to its style, panache and energy. DJs play a range from underground to alternative to hardcore house and beyond. With four dance floors and upwards of 20 resident DJS, the club has a little bit for everyone: homosexuals, bisexuals, heterosexuals, hetero-flexibles, asexuals and anyone else under the sun looking to rock out. The club does not discriminate against straight clubgoers, but the planners most definitely know what their audience wants. Slim bartenders wearing nothing but tight blue running shorts serve a packed bar, and one can't help to wonder if the clubbers are looking for a beer or for a peek.

Patrons can be in bizarre dress, with handlebar mustache, a leather vest and buttless leather chaps, or in a naval uniform with a birdhouse on his head, complete with fake birds. Or patrons can simply come as they are, and they will be able to get into a groove they like, depending on what night and what floor they choose.
