Industry: Education
Company: Edustaff London Ltd
Location: Essex, London
Salary: £55 - £60/day
Description: Learning Support Assistant - Havering
Do you want to join a SEN department to work with students who have specific learning difficulties and medical needs?
Are you going to pursue a career in teaching?
***Learning Support Assistant!!
***Earn up to £65 per day!!
***A CRB will be required!!
***London Borough of Havering!!
***1 academic year placement!!
The ideal person will have excellent communication skills, be well educated, have a genuine interest in the welfare and education of young people; any particular interest in literacy, dyslexia, dyspraxia or autism would be advantageous but not essential as being an interested, patient and kind individual underlies the success of working with children.
You will need to be prepared and capable of undertaking care duties throughout the school day for students with medical needs; ensure confidentiality with regard to sensitive issues that arise and make a contribution to the continuing development of the SEN team and the support they provide.
Students have exceptionally high prior attainment on entry to the school. Standards are extremely high, both at GCSE and in the successful sixth form. However, given their high starting point at entry, a significant number of students could make better progress at key stages 3 and 4. The school recognises this and has made improvements as a result.
The establishment of a system to monitor and track progress, the improvement of assessment and the recent development of a systematic lesson observation system, are all examples of changes intended to improve progress. Based on current progress of students and the results of assessments, early indications are that these changes are successful.
This is an amazing opportunity for a graduate to gain relevant experience before beginning the PGCE in 2013. As part of the safeguarding of the pupils, you will be required to complete a CRB check and List 99.
This is a full time post from September, and the successful applicant must be able to commit to an academic year with the school
To apply, please send your CV to Alison at Edustaff as soon as possible. Interviews to be held next week
