In 1976 Salford, Sajid Khan just wants to fit in, rebelling against the Pakistani traditions of his father George. In desperation, George dispatches Sajid to the Punjab to stay with his first wife, hoping that the experience will remind the boy about his heritage and the sacrifices he must make. The current Mrs Khan, Ella, despairs at her husband’s behaviour and she heads over to the Punjab, determined to reunite her fractured family.
