On the day he is due to complete his divorce from his long-suffering wife Tess, treasure hunter Ben "Finn" Finnegan discovers evidence of a legendary, 18th-century sunken booty called The Queens Dowry, which has eluded them all these years. When Tess fails to believe his tall tale, Finn blags his way on board the luxury yacht Precious Gem owned by billionaire Nigel Honeycutt, where Tess now works as a steward. Nigels airhead daughter Gemma is instantly smitten with Finn and his rip-roaring tales of hidden Spanish riches, and she joins the expedition to raise the shipwrecked Aurelia and its cargo.
