Following a messy divorce from her husband, writer Frances is struck down with a seemingly terminal case of writer’s block. She can’t work and the frustration begins to take its toll. Best friend Patti suggests that Frances takes a break by buying a beautiful Tuscan villa and starting her life anew. The writer agrees and she abandons her stable life in America for the rugged beauty of Europe. There, she finds new inspiration in restoring her home, and in a fiery romance with sexy local Marcello.
