Tickling Giants

Successful Cairo cardiologist Bassem Youssef turned his back on medicine to pursue his love of comedy. He started making videos in his laundry room, which he published online, poking fun at the political establishment in Egypt. This barbed satire became a sensation and at its peak, Al Bernameg (The Show) attracted around 30 million viewers. This documentary pays tribute to an unlikely Egyptian hero, who dared to stand up to the establishment, brandishing comedy as his weapon of choice.
