Alex and Cindy Simons are held hostage with their nine-year-old son Robin for three days by a sadistic intruder. The perpetrator vanishes without trace along with Robin. Police chief Danni Petit reluctantly assigns the case to Inspector Nick Cafmeyer, whose younger brother Bjorn disappeared when he was nine. Local sex offender Ivan Plettinckx was questioned but never charged and Bjorn was never found.
