Carlos and Barbara reside in a gorgeous house in Sao Paulo with their teenage son Fabinho and the live-in maid, Val. She has cared for Fabinho since he was a boy and is a stronger maternal presence than Barbara. By devoting all of her time to her employers, Val has neglected her own child, sassy teenager Jessica, who announces a visit to see her mother after 10 years of estrangement. Val nervously prepares for the awkward reunion by making up a spare bed in the servants’ quarters.
